Many people believe that lack of power is what makes bike suited for beginners. Some countries’ lawmakers believe that too, thus there are license systems that restrict riders without experience at some power level.
This ad says Ninja H2 can be limited to 48hp or 98hp (“design allows to limit throttle opening”) for aforementioned tiered motorcycle licenses.

Not sure if it’s true, but funny anyway

Still not a beginner’s bike. I don’t give a damn what people say, but that’s still way too much bike.

I know they want to be satire, but this is just moronic

What are your thoughts on the KTM 390 as a starters bike?

Yes, licensing in the EU (or at least my part of it) is regulated like this:

35kw is 47 hp which is where the 48 hp of the H2 comes in. Mind you 48 and 98 hp will fall foul of the “not derived from a vehicle of more than double its power” rule.
So yes, it’s true.

one of the best (also one of the most expensive)
i test rode it, quiet a fun little machine. lots of high end parts on it too. great handling, easy on fuel, i love the way it looks.
and the mirrors are some of the best I’ve used on a bike, period.

Good, I kind of like them and want to start riding sometime in the nearish future. But I’ve got plenty of time until then, because I still want/need a new(to me) DD before then.

I mean, I’m familiar with throttle restricted bikes, just not sure, if this applies to H2 or Kawasaki acknowledges such modification to H2.

Well, given that the standard one is 200 bhp it’s certainly not going to qualify as A2 no matter how far you restrict the throttle...

That’s a decent idea. The US doesn’t have tiered licenses, but I wouldn’t mind picking up something like an S1000RR and being able to limit it to ~50hp.

I’m sure you can do this with any flashable ECU, ride-by-wire and power modes... But it doesn’t sound reasonable. I considered S1000(single)R for my 1st bike and wasn’t really worried about power, however I think it is important that beginner bike has to be simple and inexpensive (to buy, to maintain, to repair after mishaps)
